National Electricity Market — Australia's interconnected grid covering QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and TAS. Managed by AEMO.
The National Electricity Market (NEM) is the wholesale electricity market and interconnected transmission grid covering Australia's eastern and southern states and territories — Queensland, New South Wales (including the ACT), Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Western Australia and the Northern Territory are not part of it and run separate, smaller markets.
The NEM is operated by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), which dispatches generation and storage every five minutes to meet demand at least cost subject to network and security constraints, and publishes the resulting prices, dispatch and bidding data that NEMPulse is built from.
