Frequency Performance Payments — a scheme introduced by AEMO in June 2025 that financially rewards or penalises regulation FCAS providers based on how well they track AGC signals. Includes FPP payments (credits for good performance), FPP recoveries (debits for poor performance), and FCAS fees (charges for used and unused regulation capacity). Positive values indicate net scheme income; negative values indicate net charges.
The Frequency Performance Payments (FPP) scheme is a mechanism AEMO introduced in June 2025 that financially rewards or penalises regulation FCAS providers based on how accurately they track AEMO's automatic generation control (AGC) signal. A unit that follows the signal closely earns FPP payments; one that tracks it poorly incurs FPP recoveries (a debit); and units also pay FCAS fees for regulation capacity they are enabled for, whether used or not.
Because the scheme is comparatively new and its inputs are not fully published in the same way core dispatch and price data are, NEMPulse labels its FPP figures as estimated rather than measured or derived, and shows FPP as a separate, clearly marked line item wherever it appears in a revenue breakdown.
